The Daily Slop ~ Thursday, March 15th 2012

Reef Macintosh wins the Wave of the winter contest. I thought this one was pretty impressive http://www.surfline.com/wave-of-the-winter-2011/mike-pietsch_66903. Small waves again this morning. I've seen a few fun 2 footers on the Lanis cam. Fun if you live in the country. Not quite worth the drive from the east side.

Just got my water housing back from the shop, cruised around the corner to Sandys to break in a new fisheye lens. There were some solid 3 footers blasting through. Should have a video edit tomorrow or the next day.

I got to the North Shore at first light. Pipe looked good. Probably 6 to 8 feet. Kinda scary. Everywhere else was wonky and weird so I drove West. Makaha was real fun, 3-5 feet, glassy to light offshore. I took pictures from 845am to 1130am.

Headed North yesterday (Sunday) and the swell was way down from Saturday. Saturday got so big it washed out the Volcom Pipe event. Sunday was 4 to 6 feet and very manageable. From 7 to 8am I got as many barrels as I could, then drove around the corner to Sunset and took pictures from 830am to 1030am. Looks like today (Monday) is gonna be serious. Waimea buoy is already 8 feet 18 seconds...

Pipe

Drove up and down the 7 mile stretch yesterday (Saturday). Pipe was the only place that looked any good. It was 4 to 6 feet, not epic, but still had some juicy ones. I started out at backdoor but the current was constantly pulling me toward the peak and I eventually got spooked and shifted to the Left.
