Bells: Mick wins, Slater should have ~ April 6, 2012

Some insane surfing in the final. Slater's 10 point, rediculously high, full rotation air reverse into the flats was unbelievable. Mick's surfing was powerful and flawless minus the flare of Slater. Slater should have gotten the score he needed on his second scoring ride. Slater's been the beneficiary of some questionable finals scoring in the past - beating AI in Jbay and Phil MacDonald at Trestles come to mind - so he probably had it coming.

Bells: Slater does his thing... again ~ April 5, 2012

Needing an 8+ score, Slater broke his board with 6 min 53 secs left. With 73 seconds left he took off on a set wave and fell, then somehow got back out, got into another wave with under 10 seconds on the clock. Jammed his first turn right as the buzzer sounded and then stomped a near full rotation air reverse in the wonky closeout shore break to nab a 9.23 and the heat win.

Slater always seems to win heats in crazy fashion at Bells... and Pipe... and JBay. Pretty much everywhere come to think of it.

Bells comp should wrap up today http://live.ripcurl.com/?aid=2043

Had a fun session at Rockies on Sunday, took a few pictures. Should have them up this evening.

Waves are small today but it looks like Hawaiian spring with fun small to medium size swells for all sides of the island, on and off, for the next 7 to 10 days.
